Research Interests

Climate Change and mental health

My work on climate change and mental health focuses both on sudden-onset disasters, such as tropical cyclones and landslides, and non-disaster exposures including extreme heat and air pollution. I am particularly interested in working with practitioners to develop clinical interventions to support the mental health of climate-affected populations.

Environmental Migration

I assess the impacts of natural disasters on human mobility and how this relocation may affect health. This includes survey based data collection, as well as the use of administrative records.

Health disparities and environmental justice

Much of my research has important environmental justice implications and I am committed to using community-based participatory approaches in my fieldwork. I study the ways in which individual- and neighborhood-level disparities influence who is most likely to be exposed to climate-related events and how that exposure impacts health outcomes.
